So glad I found this Gite!

Such a delight to find this Gite! Perfect place for rest and relaxation- quiet, beautiful surroundings, friendly and helpful owners. Close enough to the village to easily walk there. I highly recommend this special place.

Amazing cycling

Thanks again. Your place rocks!I have loved my holidays spent at your Gites with the family and was delighted to be able to bring some friends to stay for a few days cycling. The location is perfect and I've cycled all the popular destinations in Europe and have to say the Montagne Noire beats them all. Next time we'll come for longer so we can also enjoy the pool too.

As I write this it’s peaceful and quiet as it always is, and I’ve just had a relaxing swim in the lovely warm pool, almost sheer rock face all around, surrounded by the gentle serenade of birds and cicadas. I’m just off for an easy, virtually flat, 10 minute walk into town for a refreshing beer at the very welcoming bar, prior to this evening’s free wine-tasting given by wine expert host of Au Pont Romain, Andy. He leaves no stone unturned in his selfless search for the best wine that this prolific wine-producing area can offer – and they are delicious! Treat yourself and your palate and come here – you won’t be disappointed.

During our third stay at Au Pont Romain we combined a few days in the Chambre d'hote and one of the gites. Again, we had a wonderful holiday here! The Minervois is a lovely area, not too busy and with great wines that Andy let us taste on Friday. There is plenty to do in the area, including Cathare castles. And we do love Carsassonne golfcourse! Andy and Su make sure you have a great holiday!

We had a really lovely stay at Au Pont Romain. It is a super location a with a lovely pool, and the gites are well presented and comfortable. What sets this place apart even more is Andy & Su who are the perfect hosts, from the bread run every morning, to being on hand with local knowledge and maps, to the superb wine tasting, BBQ and dinner nights. We have no hesitation in recommending it.

Caunes-Minervois is a lovely mediæval town with a village feel. Half a dozen restaurants, one lively bar, banks, boulangerie, butcher, supermarket, Post Office, and the dramatic Montagnes Noires. Le Pont Romain is in an idyllic setting in the lee of the Montagnes, yet only about 10 minutes easy walk from the centre. Andy and Su are impeccable hosts, the rooms are all spotless with everything you could want, and the free winetasting nights and the evening meal and barbecue nights are something special, combining wine buff Andy’s local wine knowledge with Su’s great culinary skills. Children are also well catered for on these evenings. The pool is lovely and warm, and the Argent Double flows gently past your door. This should be on your list of places to visit sometime in your life. Once bitten, you’ll be smitten, and you’ll return. We’ve been four times in two years, in spring, summer, and winter. Don’t delay - go and stay.

We flew from Bristol to Beziers for an Easter holiday with our boys aged 9 and 6, and had such a great break. Weather warm - about 20 degrees - and we loved getting to know this unspoilt, quiet region: lovely wine, beautiful mountain backdrop. The pool isn't open at this time of year but that was no problem as there's an excellent new indoor pool 10 minutes drive away. Boys loved playing in the garden, and appreciated 'Andy the Bread Fairy' who did the croissant run first thing in the morning! Highly recommended.

Au Pont Romain is set in beautiful surroundings. If you want a special holiday, this is the ideal place. You can relax by the pool or enjoy the beautiful scenery and amenities nearby. Andy and Su are fantastic hosts. Their BBQ's and wine tasting evenings are a must and Su is a wonderful cook.
For us Scots, don't forget the summer flights from Glasgow are so convenient.
